Drs. Brett Winchester and Matt Hilgefort
of Winchester-Hilgefort Spine & Joint Center, located
in Moscow Mills, have joined Logan College of Chiropractic's
education staff as professors of a new functional anatomy
class.
The upper-level curriculum created by Drs.
Winchester and Hilgefort is designed to instruct Logan students
on how to see the "big picture" of patient care.
By integrating fundamentals of anatomy, biomechanics and clinical
observation, Winchester and Hilgefort will teach students
to devise comprehensive treatment plans that go beyond traditional
chiropractic protocols. The course, which is now part of the
school's core curriculum, is offered every Thursday morning
at Logan's Chesterfield campus and includes a classroom lecture
and clinical lab. For patients, Winchester-Hilgefort Spine
& Joint Center will retain normal Thursday clinic hours
from 2 to 6pm.
"As practicing physicians, we feel it's
our responsibility to teach the next generation of chiropractors
the importance of marrying traditional chiropractic manipulation
with the latest hands-on management techniques for soft-tissue
injuries," said Dr. Winchester. "As graduates of
Logan College who have traveled the country to learn the latest
research and evidence-based practice techniques, we are eager
to share our learnings with these students and our alma mater."
In addition to promoting cutting-edge care
among the class of 85 enrolled students, this opportunity
also allows Drs. Winchester and Hilgefort to remain at the
forefront of new medical research and developments.
"With our new role as professors at
Logan, we not only have access to the latest medical studies
but also are constantly pouring over new research and materials
to ensure that our patients, students and our students' future
patients will benefit from the practice of evidence-based
medicine, which is based on delivering efficient and unparalleled
patient results," added Dr. Hilgefort.
